About the role
We are seeking a Director of People to build and lead the People function through the company’s next phase of growth. This is a hands‑on, generalist role for someone who can both set strategy and execute in the weeds, particularly in an environment where many foundational processes are still being built.
This role reports directly to the COO and will immediately manage a small People team. The Director of People will be responsible for creating structure around performance, compensation, workforce planning, and core People operations — with an eye toward scalability and future public‑company readiness.
This is not a policy‑heavy or purely advisory role. The ideal candidate is a pragmatic operator who communicates clearly, thinks ahead, and is comfortable making decisions with imperfect information.
What You’ll Own
Performance, Growth & Org Design
- Design and implement structured performance management, promotion, and compensation review processes
- Establish clear leveling frameworks and benchmarking to support fair, consistent decision‑making
- Partner with leadership on organizational planning as the company scales across teams and locations
People Operations (End‑to‑End)
- Own the full employee lifecycle from onboarding through exits
- Build scalable processes that support rapid headcount growth without slowing execution
- Serve as a trusted partner to leadership on sensitive people decisions
Workforce Planning & Operations
- Support workforce planning across a mix of full‑time employees, contractors, and on‑site technical staff
- Partner with internal teams and external vendors to manage staffing models across multiple locations
- Build visibility into headcount, capacity, and workforce needs as the business evolves
HR Systems & Infrastructure
- Lead the transition to a new HRIS and ensure strong data hygiene and reporting
- Establish KPIs and operating rhythms for the People function
- Build processes that can mature alongside the company
Compliance, Mobility & Benefits
- Own compliance across geographies in partnership with legal counsel
- Manage visas, immigration, and global mobility programs
- Help evolve benefits and policies to better support a growing, distributed team
What We’re Looking For
- 8–10 years of experience across People Operations / HR in high‑growth technology environments
- Experience building People systems from early or minimal foundations
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution
- Comfortable working directly with founders and senior leaders
- Experience with IPO preparation or public‑company environments is a nice‑to‑have, not a requirement
Why This Role Is Compelling
This is a rare opportunity to step into a true builder role at the Director level — owning the People function at a moment when structure, clarity, and thoughtful systems will meaningfully shape the company’s trajectory.
The right person will have real influence, visibility with leadership, and the chance to design People infrastructure that scales alongside a company entering its most important growth phase.
