Job summary

Silverado Hospice Orange County is seeking a Director of Patient Care Services to lead hospice care delivery and oversee interdisciplinary teams while ensuring regulatory compliance. This role blends leadership, clinical expertise, and empathy to provide dignified care to patients and families.

The position reports to the Administrator and requires collaboration on staffing, budgeting, and performance management, with available growth opportunities and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• RN with a BSN or higher and state licensure.
• Active CPR; Hospice and Palliative Nursing certification preferred.
• Must have 2+ years of supervisory/managerial experience in a hospice or home health agency in the last 5 years or 4+ years in the last 5 years.
• Experience with EMR systems; WellSky preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a role model and resource for nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members.
• Support staff in problem-solving and determining appropriate clinical interventions.
• Collaborate with the Administrator on hiring, orientation, retention, and performance management.
• Adhere to budget requirements for labor, pharmacy, DME, and medical supplies.
• Coordinate patient care with RN Case Managers and attending physicians.
• Review and manage patients receiving higher levels of care (respite, inpatient, continuous care).
• Oversee clinical and management responsibilities for assigned teams.
• Serve as liaison between Administrator, clinical staff, patients, families, and community partners.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing or a related health field.
• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
• Active CPR certification required; certification in Hospice and Palliative Nursing preferred.
• Must meet one of the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing or a related health field and at least 2 years of full-time supervisory or managerial experience in a hospice or home health agency within the last 5 years
  • At least 4 years of full-time supervisory or managerial experience in a hospice or home health agency within the last 5 years
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred; familiarity with WellSky is highly desirable.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel as needed.
• Ability to lead bereavement support groups and make sound clinical decisions.
• Flexibility to work outside regular hours based on patient needs.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Anticipated pay range

$150,000 — $150,000 USD
