Job summary

Rental Works LLC in Greensboro, NC seeks an experienced Director of Parts and Service to lead the service organization and own performance, fleet readiness, and team development. You will manage the department budget, labor productivity, and repair costs while building strong teams and implementing EOS/Traction

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in equipment rental, heavy equipment, dealership service, fleet maintenance, or a closely related industry.
• Experience guiding managers and technical teams to measurable performance improvements.
• Strong understanding of maintenance workflows, parts operations, labor productivity, and safety.

• Lead shop, field service, and parts personnel with accountability for results.
• Own the Parts & Service budget and control costs, optimize labor productivity and repair costs.
• Improve equipment availability through preventive maintenance, prioritization, and uptime.
• Own repair quality, turnaround time, workflow, and field responsiveness.
• Oversee purchasing, inventory, vendor relationships, and cost control.
• Establish and reinforce consistent operating processes and safe practices.
• Lead Level 10 meetings, Rocks, Scorecards, KPIs, and quarterly priorities.

Rental Works is an independent equipment and tool rental company seeking an experienced Director of Parts and Service to lead our service organization and support our next stage of growth. This is an executive leadership team position with ownership of parts and service performance, fleet readiness, and team development. We need a leader who has built strong teams and delivered measurable operational improvements.

You will bring structure, accountability, and sound decision-making to the department.

What You Will Own

• Leadership & Accountability: Lead and develop shop, field service, and parts personnel. Establish clear expectations and hold the team accountable for results.
• Cost & Operational Efficiency: Own the Parts & Service operating budget with accountability for technician labor productivity, repair costs, parts spending, outside vendor expenses, and overall departmental cost performance. Continuously identify and implement opportunities to reduce repair costs, eliminate waste, improve turnaround times, increase fleet uptime, and extend equipment life without compromising safety or quality.
• Fleet Readiness: Improve equipment availability through effective preventive maintenance, repair prioritization, and downtime management.
• Service Execution: Own repair quality, turnaround time, shop workflow, and field service responsiveness.
• Parts Management: Oversee purchasing, inventory availability, vendor relationships, and cost control.
• Safety & Process Improvement: Establish consistent operating processes, reinforce safe practices, and resolve recurring problems
• EOS Leadership & Accountability: Lead weekly departmental Level 10 (L10) meetings with direct reports, ensuring issues are identified, discussed, and solved. Own the development and execution of departmental Rocks and Scorecards, establish meaningful KPIs, and hold the team accountable for measurable results and quarterly priorities.

• Parts availability supports efficient repairs without excessive inventory.
• Managers and technicians understand their priorities and own their results.
• Departmental performance is visible through a clear scorecard and financial reporting.
• Routine service decisions and personnel issues are resolved within the department.
• Sales, Operations, and Service work together to deliver reliable equipment and a strong customer experience.
  

What You Bring

• Senior leadership experience in equipment rental, heavy equipment, dealership service, fleet maintenance, or a closely related industry.
• A record of leading managers and technical teams and improving operational performance.
• Strong understanding of equipment maintenance, service workflows, parts operations, and labor productivity.
• The ability to make decisions, address performance issues, and follow through without constant direction.
• Strong financial judgment, communication skills, and a practical approach to problem-solving.
• Experience with EOS/Traction preferred, including scorecards, Rocks, Level 10 meetings, and accountability chart.
