Job summary

The Charter Township of Comstock is seeking a Parks Director to lead, plan, direct and administer park and recreation programs and services for our community near Kalamazoo. You will supervise staff, manage facilities, develop long-range capital projects and report to the Parks and Recreation Commission monthly.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in business or public administration and at least six years of experience in recreation services, with supervisory responsibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business/public administration or parks and recreation administration or related field.
• Six years’ experience providing recreational services, including 3 years in a supervisory capacity preferred.
• Parks and Recreation Professional or Parks and Recreation Executive certification preferred.
• Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license; CPR and First Aid certification within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and administer park and recreation programs and services.
• Coordinate maintenance and scheduling of facilities; manage budget and reporting.
• Hire, supervise and evaluate department staff and seasonal workers.
• Prepare annual budget recommendations and manage department finances.
• Collaborate with the Parks and Recreation Commission to advance programs and facilities.
