Responsibilities

Overview

Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a Director of Overhead Contact Systems in St. Joseph, Missouri to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities

This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.

  • Leading business development to pursue Rail Traction Electrification (RTE) projects. This includes development of project estimates, project proposals and participation in project interviews.
  • Continually monitor the RTE market for potential contracting opportunities, packaging and presenting opportunities to Executive Management.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key clients, vendors, and stakeholders, this includes strategic alliances and teaming for project pursuit.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for RTE direct report Managers and Field Supervision. SOP's shall align with Company standards, policies, goals, and Culture.
  • Identify and hire, and/or train from within, key personnel to fill Management, Field Supervision and Craft roles.
  • Manage strategic alliances between other Company Divisions to achieve corporate goals, strategies, and organizational objectives.
  • Continually monitor the RTE industry for advances in technology, industry best practices and changed standards.
  • Management and reporting of divisional operations and performance.
  • Development and management of Division/Project budgets and cost to complete.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog's Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in building Systems Divisions at a Senior Management level, including development of processes and procedures, team building, training, and mentoring.
  • Installation of Overhead Contact Systems, including Single Wire Fixed Tension (SWFT), Single Wire Auto Tension (SWAT), Simple Catenary Auto Tension (SCAT), Simple Catenary Fixed Tension (SCFT) and Overhead Conductor Rail/Bar.
  • Installation of Traction Power Third Rail Systems.
  • Additional knowledge of other mass transit systems including Traction Power Substations, Communications and Signal/Train Control would be beneficial for this position.
  • Senior Project Management and Senior Construction Management throughout the project life cycle, tender through closeout.
  • Intimate, hands-on knowledge of RTE installation, material, and equipment.
  • Material takeoff and buy out, including experience in procurement of commodity futures.
  • Have an established network of owners, vendors, and peers within the RTE industry.
  • Experience in planning and executing detailed tie-ins and cutovers.
  • Experience working with High Speed Rail preferred.
Pre-Employment Requirements
  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and endorsements as required per position.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
