Job summary

Discovery Cube in Los Angeles seeks a Director of Operations to oversee daily operations, facilities, and visitor services, reporting to the Executive Director. The role includes leading new projects, capital improvements, and cross-department collaboration to enhance the visitor experience.

The position requires 5-7 years in operations management, strong leadership, and experience with IT/ticketing/CRM systems. Flexibility for a varied schedule is needed.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in operations management, preferably in a nonprofit, educational, or museum environment.
• Experience in managing teams, facilities, and budgets.
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and staff development skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with technology systems (IT, ticketing, CRM) and facility management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations including facilities management, visitor services, IT systems, safety, and personnel.
• Implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness across departments.
• Develop and maintain systems for tracking and reporting operational performance metrics.
• Lead planning and execution of new initiatives, expansions, capital improvements, and special programs.
• Collaborate with departments to integrate new programs and activities into the operational framework.
• Manage budgets, timelines, and resources for new projects; ensure delivery within scope.
• Identify and implement new technologies, processes, or partnerships to support the mission.
• Lead, manage, and develop guest services, retail, cafe, volunteers, and memberships teams.
