Job summary

Charter Steel is seeking a Director of Operations Technology to lead and develop a centralized team across six facilities. You will shape the technology strategy, partner with Operations and Corporate IT, and drive improvements in reliability and performance.

The role requires 15+ years in manufacturing technology leadership, deep ERP/automation experience, and a track record of building high-performing teams while promoting safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology.
  • Ten+ years leading manufacturing technology, automation, or related functions.
  • Proven ability to develop leaders and high-performing technical teams.
  • Strong analytical skills to frame business issues and options.
  • Experience with budgeting, planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience with ERP and Automation systems.
  • Ability to translate business needs into value-added technology solutions.
  • Knowledge of ITIL and NIST standards.

  • Provide strategic leadership for Charter Steel's centralized Engineering, Automation and Controls organization.
  • Shape technology strategy aligned with business objectives and emerging tech.
  • Establish governance, operating rhythms, and performance metrics.
  • Partner with Operations and IT to improve execution and reliability.
  • Lead capital planning, vendor partnerships, and sourcing strategies.
  • Promote safety and continuous improvement culture across sites.

influence priorities, and strengthen trusted relationships with plant leadership, Operations, and Corporate IT.Drive manufacturing technology performance by ensuring automation and manufacturing systems are reliable, stable, secure, and responsive while continuously improving service delivery and operational effectiveness.Lead strategic investment and governance by supporting capital planning, technology standards, vendor partnerships, and sourcing strategies that position the business for long-term growth.Champion a culture of safety and continuous improvement by promoting safe technology issuesPassion for Continuous Improvement and supporting growth within a businessExperience with budgeting, planning, analysis, and reportingDemonstrated ability to translate business needs accident prevention, and eliminationExperience with ERP and Automation systemsSufficient technical depth and judgment to credibly lead manufacturing technology, automation and controls teams and effectively assess technical opportunities and risksBroad knowledge and experience with technology standards (ITIL, NIST)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Graduate Degree in Engineering or TechnologyFifteen plus year’s related experienceBroad experience with ERP and Manufacturing system rationalization, consolidation, and implementationAcquisition and integration experienceExperience leading a multi-site
