Job summary

Active Minds is seeking a Director of Operations and Special Projects to lead internal operations, office administration, and cross-functional initiatives in a hybrid Washington, DC role. You will partner with the COO and Executive Director to translate strategic priorities into operational plans, streamline workflows, and strengthen organizational infrastructure to support a staff of ~60.

The role emphasizes executive collaboration, policy governance, and coordinating major events and projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Master’s degree preferred (MBA/MPA).
• 8 years of professional experience in operations, administration, or business management, ideally in nonprofit operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Washington, DC office and supervise the Office Manager.
• Lead internal operations and cross-organizational communications.
• Coordinate with COO, VP of Finance & Administration, and Director of People & Culture to implement strategic goals.
• Standardize workflows and drive efficient project management practices across departments.
• Organize staff gatherings and bi-annual events in partnership with HR and leadership.
• Serve as Operations lead for organizational priorities and governance matters.
• Maintain organizational policies and procedures in collaboration with People & Culture and Legal Counsel.
