SJS Industrial, a veteran-owned shop in Virginia Beach, VA, seeks a Director of Operations to lead industrial painting, powder coating and fabrication. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of production leadership and will drive capacity expansion from one to three shifts while promoting ISO continuous improvement.

The role includes budget oversight, scheduling, customer liaison, and pursuing new business opportunities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Operations Management, business administration or related field.
• 10+ years as Production Supervisor or Industrial Production Manager with 10+ crew
• Experience leading teams in production environments and meeting deadlines
• ISO-9000 experience in defect elimination and continuous improvement preferred
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred; safety knowledge is valued

SJS Industrial, a veteran owned media blasting, industrial painting, powder coating, and light fabrication shop in Virginia Beach, VA, that serves military and maritime customers, is seeking a full-time Director of Operations for SJS Industrial.

The ideal candidate for this position has ten (10) or more years’ experience leading teams in a production driven environment, scheduling labor resources to support production deadlines and promoting ISO continuous process improvement.

Pay range for this position is expected to be $100k to $170k Annually. Benefits also include: 80hrs of accumulated PTO, 7 paid federal holidays, 2 floating holidays, and a variety of insurances offered.

Over the next several years, the primary objective will be to assist with the planning and manage the expansion of production capacity from one (1) work shift to three (3) work shifts.

Responsibilities:

• Responsibility for Industrial Division budget to include COGS and staffing.
• Report production activities and process improvements to senior management.
• Perform production planning and scheduling ensuring no loss of production time.
• Working in conjunction with the quality control Inspector, identify and pull defective work from production and route it to the rework line.
• Demonstrated ability to foresee and anticipate challenges and act accordingly to minimize impact through regular customer meetings or proactively sourcing feedback through customer interaction.
• Capable of identifying and targeting new migration and market share opportunities with existing customers by actively co-developing roadmaps, understanding the customer buying process, co-developing RFPs/RFQs with solution development engineers and proposal team members, managing customer proposals (Budget, and Final Proposals), and negotiating deals to close new business
• When necessary, maintain contact between the company and customers to ensure satisfaction, resolve any outstanding issues, identify, and implement new solutions.
• Work on strategies with Sales Account Executives to Identifying and develop potential new clients through outbound calls, office visits, and networking.
• Ensure long-term working relationships with commercial and industrial clients in the Hampton Roads Region of Virginia that need paint, ceramic coating and powder coating services.
• Maintain communications with SJS employees regarding various SJS company communications that may also arise.
• Ability to demonstrate a strategic approach to new & existing customers and opportunities through opportunity planning.
• Providing data input into various systems, i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in support of the above duties
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• A degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Operations Management, business administration or another relevant field; OR, if candidate is a veteran, provide evidence of similar education, training or experience acquired through military service (i.e., DD 214 form showing training and education in relevant disciplines)
• 10+ years of successful experience as a Production Supervisor or an Industrial Production Manager for an industrial production operation, managing a crew of 10 or more people.
• Strong background in leadership
• Experience in successfully leading teams in high stress environments
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is preferred; other safety knowledge and skills will be accepted.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and support other departments within SJS Industrial
• Orientation to extreme attention to detail; capable of articulating cause and effect using data to support such analyses and recommendations.
• Strong problem solving and analysis skills.
• Ability to resolve conflicts that arise from balancing multiple priorities.
• ISO-9000 experience in defect elimination, waste reduction, continuous process improvement and efficiency preferred.
• Must pass drug test and background check.
