Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson in New Jersey is seeking an entry-level civil engineer to assist with engineering design, interpret and coordinate assignments, and prepare project documentation. You will use design software such as Civil 3D, OpenRoads, and MicroStation, analyze survey data, and contribute to construction cost estimates and drawings in accordance with client specifications.

Qualified candidates hold an ABET‑accredited civil engineering degree and may have Engineer-in-Training

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from ABET accredited program
• 0-5 years of civil engineering or related experience
• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
• Engineer-in-training certification preferred
• Related experience is a plus

Responsabilités

• Assist with alternative studies
• Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to complete a task
• Perform design computations
• Identify calculations, drawings, quantities, cost estimates, RFIs, comments, and construction documents
• Assist in designing projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
• Assist with developing the project quantities for construction cost estimate
• Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Position summary : Responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

• Assist with alternative studies
• Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to complete a task
• Perform design computations

Required Skills

• Proficient in discipline specific design software (Civil 3D, OpenRoads, MicroStation)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Written and oral communication skills

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from ABET accredited engineering program
• 0-5 years of experience in civil engineering or related field
• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening

Qualifications preferred:

• Engineer-in-training certification
• Related experience
• Experience working with local clients at the county and state level

Working Conditions:

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
