Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson in New Jersey is seeking a civil engineer to perform design tasks using general engineering principles, interpret and coordinate assignments, and support senior engineers in delivering projects for public agencies and private clients.

This position requires a Bachelor’s in civil engineering from an ABET‑accredited program and up to five years of experience. The role includes working in a collaborative office environment with potential field components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from ABET‑accredited program.
• 0–5 years of experience in civil engineering or related field.
• Proficient in discipline specific design software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with alternative studies.
• Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to complete a task.
• Perform design computations.
• Assist in designing projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools.
• Assist with developing the project quantities for construction cost estimate.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction.

Position summary: Responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN vis classification.

Compensation is $39.00 - $60.00/hourly, commensurate with experience, education, and licensure. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. Working Conditions:

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25lbs) may be required as needed.
