Capewell Aerial Systems in South Windsor, CT is seeking a Director of Operations to oversee day-to-day plant activities, implement policies, and drive process improvements while reporting to the President.

The role leads managers and supervisors, ensures safety and quality compliance (AS-9100), and aligns operations with financial objectives; you will coordinate with purchasing, sales, engineering, and customer service to optimize workflows and profitability.

• Defining, implementing, and revising operational policies and guidelines to improve day-to-day operations.
• Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business and operational procedures.
• Ensures work environments are adequate, safe, compliant, and professional.
• Oversees manufacturing and coordinates with purchasing and sales to meet leadership goals.
• Maintains and supports AS-9100 Quality Management System.
• Plans, directs, controls, implements, evaluates, monitors, and forecasts budgets and cost of sales in each division to achieve financial objectives.
• Establishes metrics, guidelines, and standards to evaluate efficiency and identify improvement opportunities.
• Communicates new directives to managers and explains changes to the operations staff.
• Implements changes to improve customer service and job satisfaction.
• Leads coordination among operations, purchasing, planning/production, engineering, product SMEs, and customer service for smoother workflows.
• Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community.
• Mentors mid-level manufacturing management to achieve operational success.
• Tracks facility revenue margins and conducts budget reviews to maximize profits while sustaining the workforce.
• Maintains a safe and clean work area.
• Owns employee relations and team dynamics and drives issue resolution.
• Collaborates with staff to meet department and company goals.
• This position requires PPE on the shop floor with safety glasses and composite toe safety shoes.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Operations is responsible and accountable for effective operating processes and procedures across the manufacturing plant and will oversee the day-to-day activities of the facility to ensure the organization is managed and performing efficiently and effectively. The Director of Operations will supervise several managers, production supervisors, and leads, while reporting directly to the President. They will also be responsible for growth and advancement of existing organizational processes and procedures to enhance internal capacity and productivity.

Primary Responsibilities

• Defining, implementing, and revising operational policies and guidelines to improve day-to-day operations.
• Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business and operational procedures.
• Ensures work environments are adequate, safe, compliant, and professional.
• Oversees manufacturing and conducts detailed coordination with purchasing and sales departments, to ensure company leadership goals are being met.
• Maintains and supports AS-9100 Quality Management System.
• Plans, directs, controls, implements, evaluates, monitors, and forecasts budgets and cost of sales in each division to achieve financial objectives.
• Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company’s efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identifies opportunities for improvement.
• Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to managers; for major changes, meets with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.
• Improves customer service and job satisfaction through policy and procedural changes.
• Leads coordination and integration of efforts among operations, purchasing, planning/production, engineering, product SMEs, and the customer service division to produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective business processes.
• Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community.
• Support/Mentor mid-level manufacturing management to achieve operational success.
• Tracks facility revenue margins and conducts budget reviews to maximize profits while sustaining the workforce.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area.
• Owns employee relations and team dynamics, addressing concerns directly and driving issues to resolution.
• Work cooperatively with other employees to meet department and company goals.
• This position requires personal protective equipment on the shop floor where safety glasses and composite toe safety shoes are required by all.

OTHER DUTIES

Perform additional duties as directed by supervisors or management to support departmental and organizational objectives.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Conduct annual performance evaluations for all direct reports, ensuring timely, constructive feedback and alignment with organizational goals. Applies progressive discipline promptly and consistently, manages performance on a regular basis, and addresses issues as they arise.
• Engage with team members regularly to ensure proactive conflict resolution, development, and alignment on tasks and priorities.
• Assist in the company’s goal-setting process by developing department goals and working with team members to assign individual goals
