The Director of Operations will be responsible for ensuring Company maintains the highest quality of standards as it relates to employee and client satisfaction. In this role, you will work closely with the Principal, the Senior Director of Finance and Administration, and the Director of Business Strategy to help support the firm’s overall goals, objectives and deliverables, while providing leadership and support to Construction Project Managers and Clients. In summary, the Director of Operations’ responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day operations, managing staff and resources, setting goals and budgets, evaluating performance, driving growth and profitability, and ensuring the overall success of the firm.

This position reports directly to the Principal. The Director of Operations is a strategic thinker, skilled in process optimization and team leadership, with a deep understanding of construction project management best practices.

He/she is a results-driven leader looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic and growing project management firm. They possess empathy, self and social awareness, and they are an effective communicator with strong listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Team Building and Development:

• Foster a collaborative environment that promotes knowledge sharing and continuous improvement

• Promote a culture of learning and growth, providing opportunities for professional development and skill advancement for team members

• Personnel Management and Oversight:

• Support the hiring process and assist with new team member onboarding

• Work with human resources to create job descriptions, hire competent personnel and oversee employee training programs

• Collaborate with human resources to develop and implement staff evaluation parameters

• Standing check-ins with direct reports, regular project site visits and project updates, inter-personal conflict resolution

• Strengthen connection of individuals to Client cultural identity to foster and promote positive morale

• Regular company-wide communication, such as general company updates, project milestones, personnel updates, announcements, etc.

• Responding to client concerns regarding growth and capacity

• Lead efforts to document and design workflows to improve quality, efficiency, effectiveness, and control. Includes developing a client survey program, standardizing project documentation and ensuring consistency across projects

• Developing different approaches to informative dashboards (both in monthly reporting and marketing pieces) and resource allocation via Power BI Operational Reviews:

• Monitor adherence to established operational procedures and deliverables across projects

• Work with the Director of Finance to monitor company revenue margins and conduct budget reviews

• Project Staffing and Resource Allocation Scheduling

• Work with Director of Business Strategy on external communication, such as public relations, press releases, social media posts, industry periodicals, client outreach and appreciation, as well as industry event and conference attendance

• Collaborate with project teams to deliver exceptional client support

• Identify and mitigate operational risks through effective controls

• Project crisis management/escalation support as needed

• 10+ years in a related leadership role within the A/E/C industry

• 10+ years in a project management role within the A/E/C industry

• Ability to step into a situation that needs a leadership role to help mentor younger staff through challenging construction or political situations

• Ability to integrate into an existing culture with ease

• Ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate teams across different functions

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders

• Strong knowledge of project controls

• Knowledge of performance metrics and process improvement methodologies

• Ability to make sound decisions in high-pressure situations • Experience in identifying and mitigating risks

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong understanding of construction processes, phases, and timelines Work Conditions / Employment Status • Full-Time

• Remote Position, with frequent project site-visits and one on one with staff

• Occasional in-person meetings and industry events
