Job summary

Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, MA is hiring an Assistant Director of Teacher Education to lead day-to-day operations for online graduate programs. You will oversee online faculty, coordinate governance, admissions support, and program improvement, while partnering across departments to deliver an exceptional student and faculty experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in music education or a related field required; Doctoral degree preferred.
• Experience with accreditation and program management.
• Minimum of 3 years of higher education experience with expertise in teacher education.
• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Commitment to engaging inclusively and equitably with a diverse student body.
• Ability to take initiative and manage multiple assignments concurrently.
• Strong working knowledge of online learning management systems and the MS Office Suite.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Oversee online faculty, course facilitators, and Masters Final Project advisors.
• Recruit and onboard new hires and coordinate bi-annual faculty meetings.
• Develop and maintain faculty evaluation processes and retention efforts.
• Standardize online teaching practices and collaborate on curricula.
• Design and teach professional development for music educators online and in person.
• Serve as instructional designer for online courses and ensure quality assurance.
• Support student retention, career advancement, and alumni connections.
• Coordinate with academic offices to support student needs.
