Job summary

Pearl of Crystal Lake is seeking a Director of Nursing to lead a skilled nursing and long-term care team. The role shapes day-to-day nursing operations, ensuring high-quality patient care and regulatory compliance.

The DON will drive QAA processes, monitor clinical outcomes, and mentor nurse leaders within a collaborative, patient-centered culture at Pearl of Crystal Lake in Crystal Lake, IL.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in SNF/LTC settings.
• RN licensure in this state; BSN preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in long-term or acute health care; at least 2 years nursing supervisory experience.
• Minimum 6 months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.

Responsibilities

• Model the company's Vision and collaborate with the Administrator to ensure implementation and compliance.
• Drive ongoing QAA processes, oversee milestone plans for performance improvement, and monitor clinical trends and outcomes.
• Use CMS/TSI reports and current survey status to monitor clinical progress monthly.
• Communicate care delivery trends, issues and opportunities to administration, medical director, and QA Committee.
• Anticipate customers' needs and minimize potential problems.
• Participate in and promote patients' rights and customer service programs.
• Ensure staff can use the complaint process effectively.
• Develop the nursing department structure and roles of each position.
• Establish and manage goals and objectives for the nursing department aligned with the mission.
• Foster team building, motivation, change management, time management, delegation and communication.
• Promote collegial relationships among nurse managers and other healthcare professionals.
• Hire, educate and counsel a nursing leadership team for clinical oversight.
• Maintain an environment empowering nurse managers.

Description

The primary purpose of the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department, while maintaining quality standards set forth by set forth by federal, state and organization.

Responsibilities for (DON)

• Role model for the company's Vision Statement and collaborates with the Administrator to ensure implementation and compliance.

• Uses TSI reports, CMS reports, current survey status and clinical outcomes to monitor clinical progress monthly.
• Communicates care delivery trends, issues and opportunities to administration, medical director, and the Quality Assurance Committee.
• Anticipates customers' needs and works to minimize potential problems.
• Participates in and promotes patients' rights and customer service programs.
• Ensures staff ability to effectively utilize the compliment/complaint process.
• Oversees the development of the nursing department structure and roles of each position.
• Establishes and manages goals and objects for the nursing department through analysis and strategic planning consistent with the company mission.
• Understands and affects the role of the nurse leader with staff through effective team building, motivation, change management, efficient time management, delegation, stress management and effective and timely communication.
• Facilitates collegial relationships among nurse managers and other healthcare professionals.
• Hires, educates and counsels a nursing leadership team to participate in clinical oversight.
• Maintains and evaluates an environment that empowers and supports nurse managers in problem

Qualifications for (DON)

• Currently licensed as RN in this state; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Five years in long-term or acute health care preferred; At least 2 years nursing supervisory experience required
• Must have, as a minimum of 6 months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
