Job summary

Lifeatheritage seeks a Director of Nursing to lead nursing services across senior living communities, ensuring resident-centered care, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. The DON will partner with the Executive Director and interdisciplinary teams to align clinical programs with organizational goals.

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered RN license in the state of practice.
• At least 3 years of professional nursing experience with progressive leadership or management; long-term care or senior living experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• Knowledge of gerontological nursing, resident assessment and care planning, infection prevention, QAPI, survey processes, staffing and competency systems, and applicable long-term care regulations.
• Proficiency with electronic health records, clinical data, scheduling and workforce tools, Microsoft Office, and written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Direct nursing practice and care-delivery systems to ensure assessments, care plans, clinical interventions, medication management, documentation, and changes in condition are timely and accurate.
• Monitor resident outcomes and high-risk indicators and implement corrective action.
• Coordinate care with residents, families, physicians, pharmacy, therapy, social services, and others to promote dignity, safety, and quality of life.
• Maintain nursing services in compliance with federal/state requirements, policies, and licensure rules.
• Lead incident identification, reporting, and corrective actions in collaboration with leadership and HR.
• Maintain survey readiness and support inspections and corrective action plans.
• Build and retain a competent nursing team through workforce planning, onboarding, and professional development.
• Develop staffing plans based on acuity, census, regulatory expectations, and budget.
• Provide clear expectations and foster teamwork, accountability, and professional practice.
• Lead QAPI initiatives using data and audits to improve outcomes.
• Partner with Infection Preventionist and other leaders to maintain infection control programs.
