Job Summary

The Director of Nursing (DON) will be responsible for the administration and management of Nursing Services to residents in accordance with physicians' orders and the residents' needs. This role includes 24-hour supervision of Nursing Services and directing the Nursing Department to maintain quality standards of care in compliance with Federal, State, and Company regulations. In the absence of the Administrator, the DON assumes responsibility for center operations. The position involves conducting the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—under the scope of the State’s Nurse Practice Act for Registered Nurses.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate comprehensive care plans for each resident, ensuring compliance with physician’s orders, regulations, and policies.
• Communicate and enforce policies and procedures among nursing staff, and monitor practice implementation.
• Participate in admission decisions and visit prospective residents as needed.
• Attend management meetings to discuss resident status, census, staffing, and concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned with or without notice.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the practicing state.
• Associate or Bachelor Degree from an accredited nursing school.
• At least 2 years of nursing supervisory experience; 5 years in long-term or acute healthcare preferred.
