Job summary

Pawtucket Falls Health Care is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing department and oversee the delivery of high-quality care to our residents.

The DON will provide clinical leadership, ensure compliance with Rhode Island regulations and CMS requirements, and work with facility leadership to support resident care, staffing, quality outcomes, and overall nursing operations.

Qualifications

• RN license in good standing or equivalent domestic credential.
• Minimum of 3 years in nursing supervision or nursing service management.
• Experience in skilled nursing or long-term care settings.
• Strong knowledge of nursing practices, regulatory requirements and quality improvement.

Job description

Pawtucket Falls Health Care is seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing department and oversee the delivery of high-quality care to our residents.

The Director of Nursing will provide clinical leadership to the nursing team, ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, and work closely with facility leadership to support resident care, staffing, quality outcomes, and overall nursing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to the nursing department.

• Develop, implement, and maintain nursing policies, procedures, and standards of practice.

• Oversee nursing staff, including recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision, and performance management.

• Ensure appropriate staffing levels based on resident care needs.

• Monitor quality of care and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

• Ensure compliance with Rhode Island Department of Health, CMS, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

• Participate in surveys, audits, and development and implementation of corrective action plans.

• Monitor clinical documentation, care plans, medication management, infection prevention, and other nursing-related processes.

• Collaborate with physicians, residents, families, therapy, dietary, social services, and other departments to ensure coordinated resident care.

• Provide ongoing education and support to nursing staff.

• Monitor nursing department performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

• Support the facility's goals related to staffing, quality, resident satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.

• Maintain a professional, respectful, and resident-centered nursing environment.

Qualifications

• Current Rhode Island Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.

• Minimum of 3 years of nursing supervisory experience or demonstrated competency in nursing service management.

• Previous experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care.

• Strong knowledge of nursing practices, regulatory requirements, and quality improvement.

• Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to effectively lead, develop, and hold nursing staff accountable.

• Experience with staffing, clinical operations, surveys, and regulatory compliance preferred.
