Job summary

Spectrum Retirement Communities seeks a Director of Nursing to plan, develop, and direct clinical and medication programs at a Santa Fe community. You will collaborate with the Executive Director and serve as a clinical resource for staff, ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality patient care.

You will perform assessments, develop care plans, and ensure accurate documentation in the EHR while coordinating with physicians and families. On-call duties and staff training are required.”

Qualifications

• RN license in the state where the community is located
• Minimum 1–2 years of management experience
• Experience in geriatric, long-term, or skilled care settings
• Familiarity with geriatric assessment and dementia care
• Ability to train staff and implement systems/processes
• State-specific qualifications and training requirements
• Basic computer skills: email, documents, spreadsheets

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to residents and participate in care planning
• Complete health assessments and develop resident care plans
• Review care plans with residents’ families or power of attorney
• Coordinate with physicians on changes in resident condition
• Maintain accurate electronic health records and communication for billing
• Be available for on-call shifts as needed

Job Description

Director of Nursing plans, organizes, develops and directs community clinical and medication programs in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act and within standards of clinical practice as defined by the American Nurses Association. Informs and works collaboratively with Executive Director regarding clinical concerns and compliance issues and makes recommendations for resolution. Serves as a clinical resource for community staff.

• Provide nursing care to residents, including but not limited to: Completion of health assessments, completion of resident Care Plans and reviewing them with resident family members and/or Power of Attorney, discussing changes in resident condition with physicians, introduce interventions to reduce falls based on individual resident needs, etc. Also provide medication administration and help with resident care, as needed
• Accountable for timely assessments and accurate care plans in the electronic health record, plus communication with Business Office Manager any additional care given for accurate resident billing
• Maintain a working knowledge of state regulations, policies, and procedures, dictated for compliance
• Must be able to work on-call for any shift as needed

Qualifications

To be successful in this position, we believe that you need the following experiences, strengths, and skills:

• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) preferred, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (Texas). Subject to state requirements
• Current Nursing License for the state where the community is located
• A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Gerontology is preferred
• Minimum 1-2 years of management experience
• Has experience in community, acute, skilled, or long-term care settings. Possesses geriatric assessment skills. Is knowledgeable in geriatric and dementia care.
• Has the ability to train staff and to assess systems and implement systems. Is organized and self-directed
• Meet the State-specific qualifications and training for the position
• Must have basic computer skills – login/logoff, e-mail, documents, spreadsheets and entering data
