Job summary

RiseMe is seeking a Director of Nursing to oversee day-to-day operations of the ambulatory surgery center, including scheduling, QA/QI, and safety. The role partners with physicians, anesthesia, and clinical staff to ensure high-quality patient care and compliance with policies.

The ideal candidate will hold a BSN, current RN license, and BLS/ACLS certifications, with proven leadership in nursing management and staff development in a surgical setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current unrestricted Registered Nurse License in practicing state.
• Current American Heart BLS and ACLS.

Director of Nursing Job Description

General Summary of Duties:

The Director of Nursing manages the day-to-day operations of
the Surgery Center. This includes but is not limited to overseeing the scheduling of procedures,
inventory control, QA/ QI, staff credentialing, preventative maintenance and safety, risk
management and all related supporting services of the ambulatory surgical center and its
personnel.

Reporting

• Reports to the ASC Administrator as part of the Clinical Staff reporting structure shown on
  the facility organizational chart.
• Receives clinical and operational direction from the ASC Administrator, or designee.
• Works collaboratively with physicians, anesthesia providers, and has oversight of endoscopy
  technicians, clinical team members, the material manager, and other facility personnel to
  support safe and efficient patient care.
• Directs and delegates appropriate patient care activities to clinical team members within their
  scope of practice and competency.

Education and/ or Experience

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current unrestricted Registered Nurse License in practicing State
• Current American Heart BLS and ACLS

Major Functions and Responsibilities

The main function of the Director of Nursing is that of leadership and promotion of cooperative
staff effort.

The Director of Nursing manages the allocation and completion of assigned functions in daily
operations.

Areas of accountability of the Director of Nursing are outlined as follows:

• Monitor day-to-day internal flow.
• Assist in Pre-Op, PACU, and O.R.
• Coordinate activity within the O.R. suite.
• Maintain adherence to operating policy/procedure manuals.
• Monitor daily staffing of employees and assignments.
• Ability to keep good interpersonal relationships with patients, coworkers, and other team
  members.
• Responsibility for performance evaluation of all department personnel.
• Coordination of the provision and control of materials, supplies, and equipment with the
  Materials Manager.
• Risk Manager Designee.
• Maintain Employee Files.
• Monitor payroll/ overtime.

Fiscal Management

• Monitors budget compliance in daily assessment of services activity.
• Provides input into preparation of services budget.

Standards of Nursing Practice

• Monitors compliance of staff members in the daily practice of nursing care.
• Must prove the knowledge of the principle of growth and development of the life span and
  can assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements compared to his/her age specific needs
  and to provide the care needed.
• Cultural practices will be addressed and supported if such practices do not harm others or
  interfere with planned medical therapy courses.

Policies and Procedures

• Monitors staff compliance with policy and procedures.
• Enforces compliance with policy and procedures.
• Provides counseling and disciplinary measures to Ambulatory Care Services personnel for
  non-compliance with policy and procedures.

Staffing and Utilization of Services Personnel

• Assigns services personnel based on levels of competency and the needs of the patient.
• Assures fair staff assignments.
• Participate in choice of services personnel.
• Completes and posts services personnel schedule.

Staff Development

• Actively takes part in weekly nursing/clinical staff meetings.
• Monitors staff compliance with orientation and annual re-certification/ training.

Services Environment

• Monitors service environment daily and adhere to the infection control program.
• Accountable for yearly inspections
• Maintains compliance and risk management.
• Manages QA Program.

Language Skills

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,
  technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability effectively present information and
  respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to apply basic mathematical fundamentals and concepts such as probability, statistical
  inference, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to define problems, collect data, show facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to
  interpret a variety of technical instructions in diagram form and deal with several abstract and
  concrete variables.
