DIRECTOR OF NURSING SERVICES

*** $7,500 Bonus***

Alliance Health at Rosewood is a non-profit skilled nursing facility with an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our management team as the DIRECTOR OF NURSING SERVICES. We are seeking a compassionate individual who can effectively communicate with residents, families, visitors, co-workers, physicians, and other staff, as well as provide enthusiastic leadership to our clinical team.

Reports to: Administrator

Supervises: Nurse Managers, Supervisors, Coordinator of Education and Infection Control

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of a state-approved nursing school; current Massachusetts RN registration; B.S.N. preferred
  • Experience: Minimum of two years in supervisory or management roles; 3-5 years in geriatric long-term care or similar healthcare setting preferred
  • Skills: Clinical competencies desirable; excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills; thorough knowledge of MMQ, OBRA, PI, JCAHO; ability to ensure nursing compliance with regulations
  • Personality Traits: Professional, collaborative, able to work effectively with all levels of staff

Physical and Environmental Demands:

  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Occasional lifting (~150 lbs.) with assistance, wheelchair pushing (~250 lbs.), twisting, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, stair climbing, lifting equipment (~25 lbs.), reaching
  • Primarily indoor work; 60% sitting, 40% standing/walking
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous chemicals as per OSHA; risk levels vary

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for nursing services, IV therapy, controlled substances management, policy implementation, and medical peer review coordination
  • Develop and maintain nursing philosophy and standards of practice
  • Review and update policies; develop job descriptions in collaboration with HR
  • Evaluate staff performance; oversee scheduling; participate in hiring, counseling, and termination
  • Coordinate with other services; assist in care planning; participate in budget planning
  • Participate in regulatory surveys and develop corrective action plans
  • Serve on committees; promote PI activities; ensure incident reports are properly handled
  • Engage in staff development; collaborate with Medical Director; participate in facility surveys
  • Participate in resident selection and ensure adequate staffing levels
  • Self-directed schedule, may include evenings and weekends
