Job summary

United Surgical Partners International is seeking a Director of Nursing to lead nursing care across Pre-Op, PACU and GI in an ambulatory surgery center. The role emphasizes clinical expertise, staffing, policy adherence and patient safety in a dynamic outpatient setting.

The position requires a Bachelor's in Nursing, Florida RN license and 3+ years in surgery, with CNOR preferred. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential to coordinate physicians, staff and operations.

Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in surgery.
  • Current FL RN License; BLS, ACLS and PALS required.
  • CNOR strongly preferred; independent decision making; multitasking ability.
  • Excellent communication with staff, physicians, patients, families and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise all surgical areas of care for Pre-Op, PACU & GI.
  • Establish and maintain an effective relationship with the Center Administrator.
  • Ensure daily operations align with clinical practice standards and center policies.
  • Maintain staffing levels and communicate scheduling changes promptly.
  • Monitor nursing care quality and provide staff with breaks and coverage as needed.
  • Ensure materials and supplies are available for each case in advance.
  • Facilitate efficient transitions between procedures and oversee team collaboration.
  • Delegate, coach, mentor and resolve conflicts within the team.
  • Build trust and demonstrate leadership to gain team respect.

Tampa Bay Joint & Spine is now hiring a Director of Nursing

Tampa Bay Joint and Spine Surgery Center

was formed by a group of local surgeons to offer easily accessible outpatient care to Clearwater and the surrounding communities.

The goal of any outpatient surgical visit is to provide the patient with a comfortable environment that focuses on their safety, supports the surgeon with the newest equipment, experienced staff, and results in a successful surgical outcome. Patients appreciate being able to recover in the comfort of their own home surrounded by family and friends.

The Director of Nursing in our ambulatory surgery center who provides clinical management and expertise over Pre-Op, PACU GI nurses, surgical technicians and central sterile processing staff to ensure patients receive high quality, efficient care. As an Clinical Nurse Manager, you will have the opportunity for future growth and upward mobility within the organization.

Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Graduate of accredited school or professional nursing.
  • Bachelor's degree REQUIRED, along with work-related experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in surgery.
  • Current FL RN License.
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS required.
  • CNOR strongly preferred.
  • Independent decision making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients, families and vendors.
  • Knowledgeable of hospital policies and procedures specific to the operating room.
  • Clinically proficient in OR nursing skills, demonstrating knowledge of the developmental needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
What you'll do:
  • You will manage and supervise all surgical areas of care for Pre-Op, PACU & GI.
  • Establish and maintain an effective and supportive working relationship with your Administrator
  • You will ensure that the day-to-day operations are conducted in accordance with clinical practice standards and policies of the center
  • Ensure sufficient staffing daily by notifying your team of scheduling changes in a timely manner
  • You will participate in the monitoring and evaluation of nursing care provided
  • Accessible to your staff by providing breaks, ensuring coverage for meal breaks, late cases and staffing shortages
  • Monitor your clinical area to ensure materials are provided for each case in advance
  • You will facilitate effective and efficient transition between surgical procedures
  • You will delegate, coach, mentor and handle conflict resolution with your team
  • Ability to build trust and gain the respect of your team through effective leadership and participation skills.
