AdviniaCare Newport in Newport, RI is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing Services to lead the nursing department and uphold high clinical standards.

You will guide a team of RNs, LPNs and CNAs, ensure CMS/state compliance, oversee budgets, and drive quality and infection prevention initiatives, reporting to the Administrator. The role is full-time and collaboration with leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Active Rhode Island RN license in good standing.
• BSN preferred.
• 3+ years of nursing leadership in long-term care or skilled nursing.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations and survey process.
• Experience leading teams and managing budgets.
• Experience with electronic health records (e.g., PointClickCare) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct and evaluate all nursing services and staff (RNs, LPNs and CNAs).
• Ensure CMS and Rhode Island DOH compliance and facility standards.
• Lead survey readiness and develop plans of correction as needed.
• Oversee clinical quality, QAPI initiatives and infection prevention programs.
• Manage nursing staffing, scheduling, recruitment, retention and performance.
• Develop and manage the nursing department budget.
• Collaborate with MDS, physicians, therapy and other departments on resident care.
• Review and update nursing policies, procedures and clinical protocols.
• Support staff education, orientation and ongoing competency training.
• Build strong relationships with residents, families and community partners.

AdviniaCare Newport, a skilled nursing facility in Newport, RI, is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing Services to lead our nursing department. In this role, you’ll guide a dedicated team of nurses and caregivers, uphold high clinical standards and ensure every resident receives safe, compassionate, person-centered care.

This is a full-time leadership position reporting to the Administrator and working closely with the facility’s leadership team.

What you’ll do

• Lead, direct and evaluate all nursing services and staff (RNs, LPNs and CNAs)

What we’re looking for

• Active Rhode Island RN license or multistate (compact) RN license in good standing
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• 3+ years of nursing leadership experience in long-term care or skilled nursing (DNS/DON or ADON experience preferred)
• Strong knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations and the survey process
• Proven ability to lead teams, improve clinical outcomes and manage budgets
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and organizational skills
• Experience with electronic health records (e.g., PointClickCare) preferred

Schedule:

Full-time, Monday–Friday, with on-call and flexibility as needed
