Job description

Primrose Retirement Communities is hiring for a Director of Nursing to be responsible for leading the direct care staff in the delivery of nursing services, to enable each resident to attain or maintain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. The Director of Nursing establishes the overall quality and adequacy of services provided, and supervises the nursing staff, adhering to the Primrose Mission of providing a quality "person-centered" care approach to our growing senior population.

More about the position responsibilities:

  1. Ensures compassionate quality care to all residents.
  2. Participates in the recruitment and hiring of nursing personnel in a cost-effective manner.
  3. Ensures timely completion of resident assessments and service plans at pre-admission, admission, 30 days, semi-annually, and with change of condition or at intervals specified by State regulations.
  4. Evaluates whether the community can meet each resident's clinical needs, including potential new admissions, current residents, or transfers from the community.
  5. Develops and implements an organized nursing system for the delivery of care and services, coordinating with other departments such as maintenance, pharmacy, dietary, housekeeping, laundry, activities, etc.
  6. Markets the community through tours, participation in events, health fairs, and speaking engagements with local civic groups.
  7. Demonstrates ability to implement and maintain compliance with State and applicable regulations governing the community, resident care, and reimbursement.
  8. Communicates policies and procedures to nursing staff and monitors their practices and implementation.
  9. Evaluates the work performance of nursing personnel and addresses disciplinary actions as needed, in accordance with company policy.

What we're looking for:

  • Current, active, and non-restricted nursing license in the state of the community.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification per state regulations.
  • Knowledge of state laws and regulations for nursing in assisted living.
  • Meet annual continuing education hours for nursing license, if applicable.
  • Experience in long-term care or assisted living preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Leadership skills in team building, motivation, and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of Alzheimer's and related dementias is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Word.
  • Primarily day hours with occasional varying hours; shared call time for resident care.
