HCA Healthcare is seeking a Director of Nursing for Fannin Surgicare in Houston to oversee clinical departments, forecast staffing, and manage budgets while promoting patient-centered care. The role demands strategic leadership, accountability, and collaboration to align with facility objectives.

The Director will guide nursing operations, ensure standard-compliant practices, and support the Administrator with staffing, policies, and performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
• Minimum 5 years direct RN experience, ambulatory surgery center preferred.
• Minimum 3 years clinical supervisory experience.
• Active RN license as required by state.
• ACLS and PALS as required by facility.
• CNOR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise all areas of nursing care.
• Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the Administrator.
• Ensure day-to-day operations align with clinical practice standards and center policies.
• Ensure sufficient staffing daily and timely scheduling changes.
• Monitor and evaluate nursing care provided.
• Provide breaks and coverage for meal breaks, late cases, and shortages.
• Prepare materials in advance for each case.
• Facilitate transitions between surgical procedures.
• Delegate, coach, mentor, and resolve conflicts within the team.
• Build trust and earn respect through leadership and participation.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Director ensures high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall function and staffing of the clinical departments in addition to forecasting, planning, and budget monitoring. The Director fosters a culture of accountability and collaboration and supports the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and procedures in support of facility objectives.

What you will do in this role

• You will manage and supervise all areas of nursing care
• Establish and maintain an effective and supportive working relationship with your Administrator
• You will ensure that the day-to-day operations are conducted in accordance with clinical practice standards and policies of the center
• Ensure sufficient staffing daily by notifying your team of scheduling changes in a timely manner
• You will participate in the monitoring and evaluation of nursing care provided
• Accessible to your staff by providing breaks, ensuring coverage for meal breaks, late cases and staffing shortages
• Monitor your clinical area to ensure materials are provided for each case in advance
• You will facilitate effective and efficient transition between surgical procedures
• You will delegate, coach, mentor and handle conflict resolution with your team
• Ability to build trust and gain the respect of your team through effective leadership and participation skills

What qualifications you will need

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required
• Minimum (5) years direct RN experience; preferably in an ambulatory surgery center surgical setting
• Minimum (3) years clinical supervisory experience
• Experience in OR or PACU preferred
• Active RN license as required by state of employment
• Valid BCLS Certification upon employment. ***online certification not acceptable
• ACLS and PALS as required by facility
• CNOR preferred

Fannin Surgicare is located in Houston, Texas. We have served the residents of Harris County and Southeast Texas since 2005. Our AAAHC accredited facility is designed for outpatient surgery. Our center uses the most modern surgical equipment available today. Our staff perform over 500 cases a month.
