Wexford Health Sources, a leader in correctional healthcare, seeks a Director of Nursing (DON) for North Central Regional Jail in Greenwood, WV. This role drives nursing care quality, supports a team, and ensures clinical excellence facility-wide.

You will lead policies, staff development, and regulatory compliance while coordinating care with physicians and administration. The DON will guide nursing leadership, oversee operations, and participate in QA, infection control, and utilization

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; Associate's Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Active unrestricted Registered Nurse license in state of practice.
• Active CPR certification.
• Minimum of 2–3 years of clinical supervisory experience; correctional experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a structured, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for all nursing services within the facility.
• Guide clinical teams, ensure compliance with healthcare standards, and support high-quality patient care.
• Coordinate orientation, training, and continuing education for nursing staff.
• Recruitment, retention, and performance evaluation of nursing personnel.
• Develop staffing schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and continuity of care.
• Serve as a clinical resource and advise on patient care and protocol adherence.
• Monitor daily clinical operations and review outpatient and infirmary reports.
• Act as on-call nursing leadership for issues and emergencies.
• Collaborate with providers, administration, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
• Lead and participate in Quality Assurance, Infection Control, and Utilization Review committees.
• Support quality improvement initiatives, audits, and performance evaluations.
• Review incidents and medication errors and ensure proper follow-up and reporting.
• Assist with grievance responses and timely resolution of concerns.
• Prepare and submit required reports and documentation to leadership.

Position Summary

As Director of Nursing, you'll provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for all nursing services within the facility.
