Job summary

Greenbrier Senior Living is seeking a Director of Nursing (RN) to lead the clinical team in a premier senior living community. The role emphasizes mentoring associates, coordinating resident care, and ensuring high standards of care and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted RN license in Alabama is required.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • At least two years of progressively responsible nursing or clinical leadership experience in senior living or related healthcare settings.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills; able to mentor staff.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, resident assessments, care planning, medication management, and clinical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for nursing and resident care services.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, Department of Public Health requirements, and community policies and procedures.
  • Participate in pre-admission assessments for prospective residents.
  • Complete admission, monthly, and periodic assessments of residents’ physical, functional, and cognitive abilities.
  • Review and revise resident assessments and individualized care plans upon admission, as required by regulation, and whenever a resident experiences a physical or psychosocial change in condition.
  • Monitor residents for changes in condition and ensure appropriate interventions, documentation, and communication with physicians and families.
  • Review and transcribe physicians’ orders accurately and promptly.
  • Oversee medication management and ensure medications are administered and documented according to established standards.
  • Assist residents with scheduling medical, dental, and laboratory appointments.
  • Assist physicians with resident examinations as needed.
  • Lead, support, train, and develop nursing and care associates.
  • Participate in staff development programs and promote continued professional growth.
  • Maintain compliance with all personnel policies and established community procedures.
  • Understand and implement the community’s Fire Safety and Disaster Preparedness Plan during drills and emergencies.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and meet the scheduling and on-call requirements of the position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

  • At least two years of progressively responsible nursing or clinical leadership experience in senior living, assisted living, memory care, long-term care, skilled nursing, or a related healthcare setting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable healthcare regulations, resident assessments, care planning, medication management, and clinical documentation.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, physicians, and team members.
