Job summary

Mastercam is seeking a Director of Software Engineering – Motion Technology to steer the strategy, development, and staffing of globally distributed engineering teams focused on toolpath and motion technology. You will own the SDLC for the toolpath domain, manage the budget, and guide multi-year platform investments across cloud and desktop environments.

The role requires a strategic thinker with deep CAM/toolpath expertise and strong leadership, collaboration with Product Management,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Experience leading multi-year platform initiatives.
• Strong domain expertise in CAM, toolpath generation, motion planning, CNC machining.
• Proven mastery of agile development, architecture and modern languages.
• Budget ownership and experience managing capitalized software projects.
• Experience delivering cloud or hybrid-cloud services with desktop products.
• Willingness to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the long-term toolpath and motion technology roadmap with stakeholders.
• Lead development of next-generation motion planning technology as a platform investment.
• Drive evolution of toolpath technology toward cloud and hybrid-cloud architectures.
• Partner with business units to enable cross-BU adoption of motion planning.
• Collaborate with Applied Research to translate research into production-grade deliverables.
• Own build, partner, and buy evaluations for motion and toolpath components.
• Safeguard IP and support patent activities.
