Job summary

Drummond Scientific Company seeks a leader to drive front-end development of manufacturing opportunities for consumable medical devices. You will oversee a small team across multiple projects to determine manufacturability, market viability, and readiness for manufacturing handoff, coordinating with engineering and operations for scale‑up.

Travel is expected 10–20 days per year for conferences, trade shows, and customer/network partner meetings.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience bringing a consumable medical device from concept through commercialization.
• Strong scientific and/or engineering background to understand device components.
• Experience developing or reviewing design history file inputs and manufacturing requirements.
• Working knowledge of sterilization, clean room, packaging, shipping, quality systems and regulatory considerations.
• Proven ability to design, scale, or lead manufacturing processes for high-volume production.
• Ability to qualify and structure manufacturing opportunities before handoff to engineering/operations.
• Minimum ~7 years of professional experience in medical device manufacturing or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Lead front-end development of manufacturing opportunities for consumable medical devices from concept to readiness for handoff.
• Assess manufacturability at commercial scale, including design, materials, tolerances, assembly, quality, clean room, sterilization, packaging and regulatory expectations.
• Evaluate market and commercial opportunity for manufacturing programs and justify investment in scalable development.
• Partner with customers and OEMs to translate concepts into manufacturing opportunity definitions with technical and commercial requirements.
• Develop the package to transition opportunities to engineering and operations for line design, build-out, validation and operation.
• Serve as bridge between customer concepts and downstream execution ensuring clear, viable, and scalable opportunities.
• Develop, track, and report KPIs on status, quality, readiness, and conversion of opportunities.
