Job summary

Brigham Young University seeks a Director of Academic Learning and Progress for the BYU School of Medicine. You will lead the academic-progress infrastructure, oversee early alert and remediation, and supervise a team to support student success in a new medical school.

The role requires strategic leadership, experience with medical education, and strong collaboration across offices, with a mission-centered focus on student formation and professional development.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education or related field and 4 years of progressively responsible experience including supervisory/leadership responsibilities.
• Knowledge of adult learning, learning science, remediation, advising and professional student development.
• Experience building a new program and working with medical education or health professions education.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and ongoing refinement of the School of Medicine's academic-success and progress-support infrastructure across all phases of the curriculum.
• Establish a longitudinal academic-support strategy, programming calendar, service standards, and measurable outcomes.
• Build and refine programming for academic success, early intervention, remediation monitoring, board-examination readiness, and professional progress.
• Use performance, assessment, milestone, utilization, engagement, and feedback data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Oversee Student Progress Committee follow-up, early alert criteria, referral pathways, and documentation.
• Coordinate with learning specialists, registrar, career advising, OSEW, and other partners while protecting confidentiality.
• Supervise staff and allocate resources to meet program priorities.
