Job summary

The University of Rhode Island Foundation is seeking a Director of Development to lead fundraising for URI School of Medicine and to steer the multi-million dollar campaign. You will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of high-capacity prospects and donors, building lasting relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporations.

Working with URI leadership, you will translate priorities into compelling philanthropic opportunities and drive campaigns that advance health

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of progressive fundraising experience in medical schools, healthcare or higher education.
• Proven track record of securing gifts of $500,000+ and closing six- and seven-figure gifts.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate with medical school faculty, leadership, and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build the School of Medicine’s philanthropic pipeline by identifying and developing new donor relationships with capacity to invest.
• Develop and execute strategies to secure major and principal gifts aligned with school priorities and university campaigns.
• Manage a portfolio of high-capacity prospects and donors, leading relationships through the full philanthropic lifecycle.
• Coordinate with Gift Planning, Donor Relations, and Foundation teams to maximize fundraising opportunities.
• Provide strategic guidance to committees and leadership to align engagement with fundraising objectives.
