About the Role:
The Director of Marketing is an accomplished marketing professional who understands Catholic campus college ministry and its key constituents, and is adept at analyzing data to gain insights and drive action with target audiences. This senior-level role has a strong background in all facets of marketing, proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams, and works closely with the Chief of Staff, Pastor, Directors, Advisory Board, students to oversee brand and marketing strategy development and execution.
What You’ll do/Responsibilities:
- Own and lead a unified, mission-driven digital and traditional marketing strategy across all platforms, including the annual marketing plan and campaign calendar.
- Identify and lead consumer, brand, and program research initiatives, sharing findings with leadership to inform strategy.
- Continuously analyze the competitive environment and communicate trends and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
- Oversee brand strategy, identity, and naming standards, and provide brand consultation for operational and ministry discussions.
- Directly supervise and manage the Marketing Associates and the Student Creative Team, including assignments, feedback, professional development, and performance evaluation.
- Build a team culture and growth pipeline for student staff, preparing them for careers in marketing, design, and communications.
Cross-Departmental Partnership
- Build strong stakeholder relationships across Campus Ministry, Worship, Advancement, and Operations to guide strategy development and ensure brand consistency, including resolving conflicts and setting priorities across teams.
- Communicate marketing activities, campaign progress, and results to leadership, including quarterly reports on annual plan progress.
- Oversee management of agencies, consultants, freelancers, and other service suppliers, including contract negotiation.
Systems & Infrastructure
- Build and maintain sustainable content workflows, approval processes, brand guidelines, and student staff onboarding materials, so the marketing operation scales and functions well regardless of any one person’s availability.
- Establish and oversee monthly KPI reporting across all platforms, using performance data to inform strategy and leadership decisions.
Requirements
Qualifications/What We Are Looking For:
- BA/BS in marketing, business, or a related field, or equivalent education/experience.
- 6+ years of experience in a marketing leadership role.
- A practicing Catholic with a passion for the Center’s mission and a desire to help build a welcoming, faith-filled community at USC.
- Experience directly supervising or managing a team, including student or junior staff.
- Strong analytical, verbal communication, and listening skills.
- Excellent collaboration and team-building skills.
- Comfort building marketing systems and processes from scratch (workflows, brand guidelines, onboarding materials).
- Ability to build relationships with students, leadership, benefactors, and other stakeholders through positive interaction and problem resolution.
- Experience with Squarespace, Mailchimp, Instagram/YouTube/Vimeo, and Adobe Creative Suite (required).
Work Schedule
- This is an in-person job.
- The standard work week is 40 hours. You will work a five-day week, Sunday through Thursday, with Sunday designated as a required work day given its centrality to the Center’s mission.
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
