Job summary

CSL Behring seeks a Head of Manufacturing Engineering & Maintenance to lead asset reliability and lifecycle management for a biopharmaceutical manufacturing site. You will direct engineering, maintenance, calibration, and shutdown planning while driving capital projects, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.

The role requires deep GMP knowledge, strong leadership, and the ability to translate complex engineering challenges into actionable programs across global sites.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of engineering experience in Biotech, Pharma, or regulated life sciences.
• 8+ years leading engineers or technical teams
• Strong understanding of GMP, validation, and regulatory expectations
• Experience with reliability engineering, maintenance strategies, and CMMS systems
• Knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean principles is a plus.
• Knowledge of biotech manufacturing processes (upstream/downstream/fill-finish as applicable)
• Familiarity with automation and digital systems
• Financial experience with high-level budgetary responsibilities is required
• Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex engineering challenges into actionable programs

Responsibilities

• Engineering leadership across site manufacturing engineering and maintenance leadership.
• Develop and implement the site engineering and maintenance strategy aligned with enterprise objectives.
• Lead and develop a high-performing organization, fostering accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Direct all aspects of manufacturing engineering and maintenance including technical support, project management, emergency response, on-call, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Support multi-year capital plans, investment roadmaps, and operational readiness for global sites.
• Oversee capital projects from conception to commissioning; ensure alignment with objectives and successful completion.
• Develop and execute enterprise reliability strategies (RCM, FMEA, PdM, CMMS optimization).
• Implement asset health metrics, RCA processes, and KPI dashboards for engineering activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to meet production goals and improve process performance.
