Job summary

Precept is a nonprofit Christian Bible Study ministry based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Director of Development leads major gifts fundraising, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors capable of five- to six-figure gifts annually.

This remote role reports to the VP of Development and travels up to 60%. We seek a results-oriented fundraiser with 7–10 years of frontline experience, strong donor relationships, and strategic thinking.

Qualifications

• Must have 7–10 years of frontline fundraising experience in nonprofit organizations.
• Proven success securing five- and six-figure gifts from individuals.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage a major gift portfolio and meet fundraising goals.
• Willingness to travel up to 60%.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of 100–125 major donors giving $25,000+ annually.
• Develop cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for each donor.
• Personally solicit major gifts and multi-year commitments.
• Build a robust pipeline through referrals, research, networking, and outreach.
• Conduct donor visits in person or virtually with relationship emphasis.
• Collaborate with leadership to develop gift strategies and plan giving.
