Job summary

The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a seasoned major gifts leader to direct and oversee a central major gifts program within the UH Office of Development.

You will develop and execute a strategic plan, identify and engage donor prospects, and coordinate cultivation and solicitation efforts while stewarding key relationships. You will also recruit and guide a volunteer leadership structure, manage budgeting and personnel, and lead special fundraising projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires a thorough understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline.
• Requires a 4-year degree from college or university or equivalent training.

Responsibilities

• Creates and implements a strategic operating plan for the major gifts program for the UH Office of Development.
• Identifies prospects, facilitates and coordinates cultivation and solicitation strategies, and delivers effective stewardship for central assignments.
• Identifies and conducts exploratory visits with potential major gift donors.
• Manages special fundraising projects as assigned.
• Serves as a resource for the university regarding successful major giving activities, techniques and methods.
• Recruits and manages a volunteer leadership structure to assist with major gift solicitation and overall development strategies and direction.
• Administers the department's budget and personnel.
• Performs other job-related duties as required.

Education
