Job summary

Axiom Care in Mount Vernon, IL is seeking a Maintenance Director to plan, organize, and direct the overall operation of the Maintenance Department, ensuring the facility is maintained in a safe and comfortable manner.

You will supervise maintenance staff, coordinate services, and implement preventive maintenance programs, with a strong focus on compliance with safety regulations and building codes.

Qualifications

• High school education or its equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity in a maintenance/plant related position.
• Knowledge of boilers, compressors, generators, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.
• Must be licensed in accordance with current applicable standards, codes, labor laws, etc.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Ability to make independent decisions and deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the Maintenance Department, its programs, and activities.
• Coordinate maintenance services and activities with other related departments.
• Assist in establishing a preventive maintenance program.
• Repair facility/resident property as necessary.
• Inspect storage rooms, workrooms, utility/janitorial closets, etc., for upkeep and supply control.
• Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies.
• Keep abreast of economic conditions/situations and recommend adjustments in maintenance services.
• Perform administrative duties, such as completing necessary forms, reports, evaluations, studies, etc.
