Job description

Director of Aircraft Maintenance

A Private Family Enterprise | Flight Department | Pacific Northwest

A privately held, family-owned business is hiring an experienced Director of Aircraft Maintenance to lead the maintenance function of its corporate flight department. This is a rare opportunity to join a small, close-knit operation where the aircraft are treated as an extension of the family and corporate operations, decisions are made quickly, and the person in this seat has genuine ownership over the safety and readiness of the fleet.

AT A GLANCE
  • Reports To: Chief Pilot and the Ownership Group
  • Fleet: Embraer Legacy 600, Cessna Citation 550, and Quest Kodiak
  • Operating Rules: FAA Part 91
  • Base Region: Pacific Northwest
  • Travel: Occasional, when aircraft are away at outside facilities or AOG
  • Certification: FAA A&P required; Inspection Authorization preferred, or attainable within one year
THE OPPORTUNITY

As Director of Maintenance, you will own the airworthiness, safety, and reliability of a small, high-value fleet on behalf of a family that flies it often and cares deeply about how it is maintained. You will set the maintenance strategy, manage the schedules and vendors that support it, and serve as the trusted technical voice to the Chief Pilot and the owners themselves — not several layers removed from decision-makers, but in direct, regular conversation with them.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • — Plan and oversee all maintenance, inspections, repairs, and modifications across the fleet, ensuring every aircraft is safe, compliant, and ready to fly.
  • — Build and manage maintenance schedules in step with FAA regulations, OEM guidance, and airworthiness standards.
  • — Maintain technical publications, inspection programs, and AD/SB compliance, and keep MEL/CDL items moving to timely resolution.
  • — Uphold Part 91 compliance and the company's safety culture, keeping meticulous aircraft records and a safe, orderly facility.
  • — Coordinate closely with flight crews to minimize downtime, and keep the Chief Pilot and owners informed with clear maintenance reporting and forecasts.
  • — Manage relationships with MROs, service centers, and suppliers, and oversee budgets, inventory, and facility upkeep.
  • — Take on additional responsibilities as the Chief Pilot or owners ask — this is a hands-on role in a small operation, not a siloed one.
WHAT'S OFFERED

A competitive base salary paired with quarterly bonus opportunities; comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents; flexible spending accounts; life and disability insurance; a 401(k) with a generous company match; a home-purchase discount; paid time off starting at three weeks annually plus 16 hours of volunteer time; and support for continued education and professional development.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • — High school diploma or GED; an associate's or bachelor's degree is a plus.
  • — A valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate.
  • — At least five years of corporate or business aviation maintenance experience, ideally with prior leadership in a flight department.
  • — Hands-on experience with the Embraer Legacy 600, Citation 550, or Quest Kodiak.
  • — Inspection Authorization (IA) is preferred, or a willingness to obtain it within your first year.
  • — Familiarity with SMS programs, aviation quality systems, and tracking platforms such as CAMP, Traxxall, or FlightDocs.
  • — A steady, detail-driven approach to safety and compliance, and the ability to explain technical matters plainly to non-technical owners.
  • — The judgment and discretion to operate as a trusted partner within a private family enterprise.
