Our Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer Giulia Kennedy, Ph.D. is hiring a Director, Machine Learning! Come join a team of industry veterans with a great track record of success.

PinkDx, Inc. is an early-stage company whose vision is to positively impact the health of women throughout their life journey. The Company is focused on addressing the medical problems that women uniquely face by applying sophisticated scientific approaches to resolve them and provide answers that have an immediate, positive impact on their lives.

PinkDx is initially focused on improving the diagnostic outcome for women who have vague symptoms that could signal a gynecological cancer. Each year in the United States, an estimated 1.5 million women present with general symptoms including bloating, pelvic pain and abnormal bleeding, for which the cause is not clear. Over 100,000 women in the U.S. are ultimately diagnosed with a gynecological cancer each year. PinkDx is developing solutions to replace invasive, painful diagnostic procedures and mitigate the significant delays women and their doctors often face in obtaining answers. Their first test will address a market between $2-3 billion.

PinkDx recently closed an upsized Series A round for $45M, which included Blue Cross Venture Fund in addition to the original syndicate of Catalio Capital Management, Mountain Group Partners, The Production Board, Mayo Ventures, and Brooke Byers. This round closed on the back of enrollment commencing across 3 IRB-approved clinical trials, led by top institutions including Mayo Clinic, Columbia University and Houston Methodist Medical Center. The company, whose headquarters is in the San Francisco Bay area, has about 20 employees and is in growth mode.

We are hiring a Director, Machine Learning to be a key member of the Data Sciences team. You will build and implement a machine learning/AI/statistical modeling engine that develops classification models using a menu of genomic features generated from next-generation sequencing (NGS) platforms, clinical features, and adjudicated truth labels. You will generate candidate models and evaluate their performance using cross-validation, iterative training, model-building and perform lock and final validation. You will evaluate the suitability of state-of-the-art machine learning/AI/statistical modeling methods for a wide variety of genomic and non-genomic datasets.

If you can work independently to build scientific strategies, execute to timelines, and have a demonstrated ability to communicate complex data and concepts across a team-based environment, this could be a perfect fit. If you have the following education and experience, apply today!

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Genetics, or a related field, with a focus on Machine Learning required.
  • 6+ years of experience with algorithm development and supervised and unsupervised machine learning/AI required.
  • Experience in NGS, RNA-Seq, whole transcriptome analysis required.
  • Experience building classifiers with complex underlying data.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting diagnostics product development.
  • Expert in one of these languages required: R, Python, C#, or C++
  • A background in oncology is a plus.
  • Experience with workflow managers, container solutions, job schedulers, and cloud computing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
