About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Director of Machine Learning Science. This role will oversee the machine learning science function and drive the machine learning strategy for Glassdoor in close partnership with the Product and Engineering leadership teams

What You'll Do
  • Lead the machine learning strategy for Glassdoor, partnering with Product leadership to ensure ML is being leveraged in the areas of highest impact to the business
  • Oversee machine learning science function responsible for managing all ML models in collaboration with ML Engineering and for serving as a center of excellence to empower teams across Glassdoor to adopt AI efficiently and effectively
  • Lead a team of data scientists and ML scientists responsible for the full spectrum of insights to ML on key surfaces, ensuring the team has a deep understanding of user engagement patterns and is designing efficient solutions to grow engagement and retention
  • Evangelize a culture of experimentation, building on a solid foundation of A/B testing continue optimizing for velocity of experiments
  • Act as a trusted advisor and thought partner on topics related to machine learning and AI, with recommender systems as a core area of focus
  • Advocate for improvements in our tech ecosystem to remove friction from ML development and increase speed to impact for the team
  • Data & Analysis: Own metrics related to key ML initiatives, such as key recommender system surfaces, and ensure initiatives drive impact to those metrics
  • 12+ years with machine learning/algorithmic development and related analytics, ideally with a depth of experience in recommender systems
  • Strong expertise deploying GenAI experiences for consumers/internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrated operational/execution excellence and ability to think strategically while managing with a sense of urgency through ambiguity
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships between the executives, Product and Engineering leadership teams on key strategic applications of ML and AI
  • Strong analytics orientation to understand usage patterns and identify the most impactful levers
  • Strong bias towards action and ability to develop and drive a roadmap that delivers value at regular intervals along the way
  • Strategic vision combined with ability to “roll up their sleeves” and translate into actionable parts
  • Strong alignment with Glassdoor culture and values
Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary Range*: $224,800.00 - $351,300.00

*Glassdoor base salaries are targeted to the market 75th percentile for technical roles and the 65th percentile for non-technical roles. In other words, 65-75% of comparable organizations in our industry will pay less.

**Bonuses are paid in 6-month intervals, aligning with bi-annual performance evaluations

***Restricted Stock Units (RSU) are awarded at hire and may be refreshed annually. Additionally, as a pay-for-performance company, there are additional RSU grant awards for the very top performers.
