A. Stucki Company is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Director of Logistics to lead our enterprise transportation and logistics function across multiple manufacturing and distribution locations. This highly visible leadership role is responsible for developing and executing the company's logistics strategy while ensuring products are delivered safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
The Director of Logistics will oversee transportation operations, carrier strategy, freight management, private fleet operations, logistics analytics, and network optimization. Working cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Customer Service, Sales, and Finance, this leader will drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce costs, improve on-time delivery, strengthen customer satisfaction, and support the company's long-term growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Logistics Strategy
- Develop and execute the company's enterprise logistics strategy aligned with business growth and operational excellence.
- Standardize transportation policies, routing guides, and logistics processes across all manufacturing and distribution facilities.
- Evaluate transportation networks and identify opportunities to improve cost, service, and capacity.
- Support warehouse and distribution network optimization initiatives.
- Develop scalable logistics capabilities that support acquisitions and future business growth.
- Lead enterprise transportation operations and oversee approximately $12 million in annual freight spend.
- Develop strategic partnerships with carriers, brokers, and third-party logistics providers (3PLs).
- Lead carrier sourcing initiatives, including RFPs, negotiations, contract management, and performance reviews.
- Establish carrier scorecards and conduct quarterly business reviews to improve service and accountability.
- Ensure optimal carrier selection based on cost, service, safety, and customer requirements.
- Monitor transportation capacity and proactively mitigate supply chain disruptions.
Fleet Management
- Provide enterprise leadership for the company's private fleet operations.
- Develop strategies to maximize fleet utilization while minimizing operating costs.
- Monitor fleet performance, maintenance costs, fuel efficiency, equipment availability, and driver productivity.
- Partner with Operations to optimize fleet scheduling and asset deployment.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and all transportation safety regulations.
- Develop preventive maintenance and capital replacement strategies for fleet assets.
Cost Management & Analytics
- Develop transportation budgets, freight forecasts, and cost reduction strategies.
- Identify savings opportunities through:
- Route optimization
- Shipment consolidation
- Transportation mode optimization
- Network redesign
- Review freight invoices and ensure compliance with negotiated pricing agreements.
- Develop executive dashboards and reporting that provide visibility into freight spend, logistics performance, and cost trends.
- Partner with Finance to improve transportation forecasting and financial performance.
Operations & Customer Partnership
- Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Plant Leadership, and Customer Service to improve shipment planning and delivery performance.
- Reduce premium freight through improved scheduling and planning.
- Improve inventory flow across manufacturing facilities.
- Lead cross-functional efforts to resolve transportation issues impacting customers.
- Support initiatives that improve delivery reliability, responsiveness, and customer satisfaction.
Performance Management
- Develop and monitor key logistics performance indicators including:
- Freight Cost as a Percentage of Sales
- On-time Delivery (OTD)
- Claims Ratio
- Transit Performance
- Transportation Safety Metrics
- Lead corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives based on KPI performance.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, transportation laws, customer requirements, and company policies.
- Establish transportation governance and standardized operating procedures across all facilities.
- Lead implementation and optimization of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and logistics technologies.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence throughout the logistics organization.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field required.
- 8-10+ years of progressive leadership experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management.
- Experience leading logistics operations across multiple manufacturing or industrial facilities.
- Experience managing enterprise freight spend exceeding $10 million annually preferred.
- Demonstrated success negotiating national transportation contracts and managing strategic carrier relationships.
- Experience managing private fleet operations preferred.
- Experience implementing Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP systems, and logistics reporting platforms.
- Strong financial acumen with a proven track record of delivering transportation cost savings.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required; experience with Power BI or similar business intelligence platforms preferred.
- Must be able to travel up to 50%.
