Job summary

Whitman Family Development LLC is seeking a Director of Leasing in Bal Harbour Village, FL. You will execute leasing strategy, manage active tenant relationships, and drive occupancy, renewals, and expansions across luxury retail categories.

The ideal candidate brings 7–10 years of progressive leasing experience, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to advance deals from negotiation to occupancy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• 7-10 years of progressive commercial leasing experience; luxury retail, mixed-use, or shopping center experience strongly preferred; mentoring experience a plus.
• Demonstrated experience independently negotiating lease transactions and building retailer relationships

Responsibilities

• Execute leasing and merchandising strategy for assigned areas; evaluate market trends and identify opportunities to improve occupancy and tenant mix.
• Identify, recruit, and cultivate relationships with national, international, and luxury retail and restaurant tenants; maintain an active prospect pipeline.
• Lead negotiations for new leases, renewals, relocations, and amendments within assigned scope; prepare deal terms and financial analyses.
• Analyze rental rates, occupancy costs, and deal economics; report leasing performance and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Serve as primary relationship manager for assigned tenants; lead renewal and retention discussions.
• Partner with Development, Marketing, Tenant Coordination, Legal, and Lease Administration across the transaction and delivery lifecycle; mentor junior team members.

Position Summary

Reporting to the EVP of Leasing, the Director of Leasing executes leasing strategy and manages leasing activity for assigned tenants, categories, or portfolio segments — driving new leasing, renewals, and expansions that support occupancy, tenant mix, and revenue. The ideal candidate brings strong commercial leasing experience, established industry relationships, and the ability to independently manage multiple transactions. The Director works closely with Development, Marketing, Access, Property Operations, Finance, Tenant Coordination, Lease Administration, and Legal to advance deals and support successful tenant occupancy.

Education and Experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong command of lease structures, negotiation, and market/merchandising strategy.
• Excellent negotiation, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong financial acumen and ability to manage multiple transactions independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM platforms, and leasing management systems.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to travel as needed for retailer meetings, industry conferences, and market visits.
• Ability to walk properties, attend events, and participate in tenant meetings.
• Ability to sit, stand, reach, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
