Damar is currently seeking a Director of Learning and Development to join our team. The Director of Learning and Development will set a strategic vision for the education of staff by creating, expanding and adapting current program offerings, including compliance / licensure, new hire training, new manager training and professional development training at both the individual contributor and management levels, and external training programs. In this capacity, the Director of Learning and Development will lead all needs assessment, design, development, implementation and evaluation of training and employee development programs for Damar. The Director of Learning and Development will also interact with our senior leadership team to respond to training and development needs with an emphasis on driving an agile work environment, adjust to the changing needs of the business as well as deliver best in class training and development solutions.

  • Sets the strategic direction while serving as a learning and development champion and training subject matter expert across Damar.
  • Manages all employee functions of the Learning and Development team to include recruitment, on the job training, coaching and mentoring, performance appraisals, and performance management functions.
  • Attends mandatory staff meeting and other meetings as assigned.
  • Creates innovative and practical solutions for training with a focus on closing performance, skills and behavioral gaps across the Agency.
  • Ensures the designs, developments and implementation of an annual training roadmap for the Agency (i.e., compliance, new hire, new manager, and professional development).
  • Developments, management and implementation of an Agency University which would include a wide variety of training channels and methods (i.e., face-to-face, e-learning, job aids and other using interactive methods).
  • Ensures management of Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure training is appropriately tracked and reported as required for quality purposes.
  • Completes incident reports, including reporting any suspected exploitation, abuse, or neglect of a client.
  • Shows initiative by identifying solutions to work towards improving stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Prioritizes duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and growth.
  • Partners with Human Resources and Quality and Compliance leaders to ensure the Agency has appropriate training documentation including the monitoring of training compliance for all employees.
  • Will adhere to all policies and procedures as defined in the Employee Handbook and Damar Operational Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Completes and updates mandatory training and other licensure related items in a timely manner.
  • Maintains documentation that is accurate and legible.
  • Seeks the best use of materials, equipment and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Acts as a good steward of Damar and/or client finances.
  • Takes pride and ownership in Damar’s facilities and assigned work areas.
  • Respects the culture, diversity and rights of all clients, their families and the community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What you need to be considered...

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Education may be substituted with experience.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in corporate training experience including curriculum design, platform training development and facilitation.
  • Must have or be able to obtain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Trainer Certification.
  • Must have or be able to obtain Critical Moment Training (CMT) Trainer Certification.
  • Must have or be able to obtain 1st Aid/CPR Trainer Certification.
  • Minimum age of 21 depending on program and / or department requirements.
  • Successful completion of physical.
  • Must meet background screening requirements of program(s) assigned to.

Essential Job Functions:

Physical:Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision:See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing:Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
