DIRECTOR OF LABOR RELATIONS (REMOTE - WEST COAST)

Salary: $150,000 - $170,000

Other Compensation: Bonus Eligible

Pay Grade: 17

Compass Group USA, a leading foodservice and support services company, is seeking a Director of Labor Relations. With over 284,000 associates across all 50 states, we pride ourselves on our great people, service, and results. We are looking for an experienced candidate with robust first-chair experience in leading high-volume collective bargaining agreement negotiations, managing multiple CBAs, grievances, arbitrations, and disciplinary hearings.

This role involves assisting operational management to maintain cost-effective, compliant labor relations environments, negotiating and administering CBAs, and providing internal training and consultation.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and implement strategic labor objectives aligned with business goals.
  • Partner with HR and Operations to educate employees on labor issues and company policies.
  • Lead negotiations for multiple labor agreements, ensuring competitive and cost-effective outcomes.
  • Oversee grievance and arbitration processes, representing the company in mediations and proceedings.
  • Train management on CBA compliance and labor relations best practices.
  • Administer multiple CBAs concurrently, ensuring adherence and effective resolution of issues.
  • Support employee relations and provide guidance on labor law compliance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Labor Relations, Business, or Human Resources; JD or advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of labor relations experience in a multi-location, unionized environment, with extensive CBA negotiation experience.
  • Proven ability to manage numerous CBAs simultaneously, with strategic, cost-effective results.
  • Experience in grievance handling, investigations, and arbitration preparation.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with experience as a chief spokesperson.
  • Willing to travel 60%+ by air and automobile.
  • Industry knowledge in food, vending, support services, and familiarity with NLRB rules.
  • Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish) preferred.
  • Proficiency in remote communication and negotiation technology.
