Job summary

Midland College seeks a Director of Institutional Research to lead the campus data function, ensuring accurate collection, validation, analysis, and communication of institutional data for informed decision-making.

The role coordinates planning, reporting, accreditation support, and institutional effectiveness activities, while supervising the IR team and translating complex data into clear insights for campus leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree and at least two years in institutional research, data analysis, or related field.
• Experience with higher education data sources and reporting requirements (IPEDS, THECB, state/federal).
• Strong ability to interpret, analyze, and communicate data to support planning and decision-making.
• Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience coordinating priorities and staff development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the Institutional Research team, setting priorities and ensuring timely research, reporting, and compliance.
• Design and execute institutional research including cohort tracking, KPI reporting, surveys, and ad hoc analyses.
• Oversee reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate actionable insights to stakeholders.
• Provide leadership for state and federal reporting (IPEDS, THECB) and ensure data integrity and continuous improvement.
• Support accreditation, program review, and institutional effectiveness initiatives.
