Director of Infrastructure Engineering

About the Role
Lead and scale the platform powering production AI systems. Own the strategy and execution behind cloud infrastructure, developer platforms, and reliability practices - ensuring systems remain secure, observable, and resilient. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives at every level: defining long-term infrastructure strategy, solving production incidents, and mentoring high-performing engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and evolve multi-cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP
- Lead and grow a high-performing Infrastructure/Platform Engineering team
- Build infrastructure as code (Terraform or equivalent) for reproducible environments
- Design and improve CI/CD systems for secure, reliable delivery
- Establish world-class observability across metrics, logs, traces, and alerting
- Drive reliability practices: incident response, on-call ops, SLOs, error budgets, disaster recovery, blameless postmortems
- Partner with Security and Engineering leadership to embed security by default and maintain compliance (ISO 27001, SOC 2, CMMC)
- Continuously improve developer experience through automation and platform tooling

Qualifications
- 8+ years building/operating production infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, or SRE systems
- 3+ years leading engineering teams in high-growth environments
- Strong experience with Kubernetes, containers, and modern CI/CD platforms
- Proven track record building highly available, observable, and resilient systems
- Deep understanding of infrastructure security, compliance, and risk management
- Experience scaling engineering organizations and infrastructure in fast-moving environments
- Excellent communication skills to influence technical strategy across teams and executives
Preferred Experience
- AI/ML infrastructure or large-scale data platforms
- Familiarity with model training, inference, evaluation, or data pipeline infrastructure
- Experience with regulated cloud environments (FedRAMP, GovCloud, CMMC Level 2)
- Contributions to platform engineering, open-source infrastructure, or developer productivity initiatives
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $350,000-$500,000/year (national base salary range: $230,000-$260,000 USD)
