About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Information Technology to lead and evolve its global IT operations from its Howell, New Jersey office. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a technology professional who can balance strategic planning with hands-on technical execution.

The Director will oversee IT infrastructure, systems administration, cybersecurity, help desk operations, technology procurement, risk management, and a global team of IT professionals. This individual will be responsible for strengthening the organization's technology environment while establishing scalable processes, standards, and controls that support continued growth.

This is not a purely administrative leadership position. The successful candidate should be comfortable remaining technically involved, with approximately 30–40% of the role focused on hands‑on technical work and the remainder dedicated to leadership, process improvement, project management, and strategic initiatives.

For the right individual, this position offers significant long-term growth potential and could develop into a CTO or CIO‑level leadership role as the organization continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the organization's global IT function, including infrastructure, systems, cybersecurity, help desk operations, and technology support.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a global team of IT professionals while establishing clear expectations, workflows, and departmental KPIs.
  • Serve as a hands‑on technical leader capable of troubleshooting complex infrastructure, network, cloud, security, and systems issues when necessary.
  • Develop and execute an IT strategy aligned with organizational growth, operational requirements, security standards, and long‑term business objectives.
  • Establish and manage Help Desk processes, ticketing standards, escalation procedures, service expectations, and performance metrics.
  • Oversee Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory/Entra ID, networking, databases, system administration, and connected devices.
  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity programs, controls, policies, and procedures designed to protect organizational systems and data.
  • Lead IT risk remediation initiatives and ensure identified technology and security risks are addressed appropriately.
  • Support SOC 2 compliance efforts, audits, documentation, and ongoing security readiness.
  • Oversee software licensing, user access, permissions, procurement, and vendor relationships.
  • Partner with business leaders to establish workstation and technology standards and ensure equipment is properly purchased, configured, secured, and deployed.
  • Monitor the availability, integrity, security, and performance of servers, hardware, systems, applications, and other critical technology resources.
  • Lead capacity planning, system performance optimization, hardware upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to automate system administration and operational processes using scripting and other technologies.
  • Establish and maintain IT policies, procedures, documentation, and change‑management standards.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve scalability, security, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external service providers to develop technology solutions that support business needs.
  • Provide executive leadership with visibility into IT performance, security posture, operational risks, major initiatives, and long‑term technology priorities.
Qualifications
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in information technology, infrastructure, systems administration, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience leading technical teams or IT functions.
  • Strong hands‑on knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory/Entra ID, networking, databases, and systems administration.
  • Demonstrated experience managing IT infrastructure and technology operations across multiple teams, offices, or geographic locations.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, including cloud security, vulnerability management, penetration testing, threat intelligence, and risk remediation.
  • Experience supporting SOC 2 certifications, audits, or comparable security and compliance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish IT KPIs, workflows, service standards, and operational processes.
  • Experience managing technology vendors, software licensing, hardware procurement, user permissions, and IT assets.
  • Strong project management and change‑management capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and executive leadership.
  • Ability to operate strategically while remaining comfortable working directly within the technology environment when needed.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Administration, or a related discipline preferred.

Compensation & Growth
  • $150,000–$160,000 base salary, based on experience and technical expertise.
  • Full-time, on‑site position in Howell, New Jersey.
  • Opportunity to take ownership of a global IT environment and influence the organization's long‑term technology strategy.
  • Significant executive visibility and the ability to help shape future technology investments, infrastructure, security, and organizational processes.
