Job summary

Los Angeles Times is seeking a Director of Incident Management to lead the organization’s incident response and service restoration across IT, security, infrastructure, and applications. You will drive urgent, disciplined actions to minimize disruption and protect assets while restoring services quickly.

You will oversee incident processes, coordinate with technology and business leaders, and ensure clear communications during outages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, cybersecurity, or business administration.
• 7+ years IT operations or security operations with leadership in incident response.
• Strong knowledge of ITIL and incident management processes.
• Ability to lead high-pressure incidents with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise incident management for IT service disruptions and security incidents.
• Own the incident lifecycle from triage to post-incident review.
• Define severity definitions, escalation paths, and communication standards.
• Coordinate with IT, cybersecurity, infrastructure, applications, and vendors.
• Act as primary command during major incidents with executive updates.
• Drive root-cause analysis and continuous improvement after incidents.
• Monitor incident trends and implement preventive actions.
• Develop incident runbooks, playbooks, and operational procedures.
• Lead incident response exercises and readiness assessments.
• Collaborate with change management and business continuity teams.
