Job summary

Xcimer Energy, based in Denver, Colorado, seeks a Head of Diagnostics Physics (Imaging and Spectroscopy) to lead the department, shape diagnostics strategy, and drive program milestones for next-generation fusion systems. Qualifications

• MS in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field.
• 10+ years of experimental experience in imaging, spectroscopy, laser experiments, plasma diagnostics, or development of complex optical/X-ray/neutron diagnostic systems.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary scientific or R&D organizations.
• Strong publication record and recognized scientific contributions.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and scale the Diagnostics Physics department, including hiring and mentoring.
• Maintain system-wide understanding of diagnostic requirements across laser science and engineering.
• Develop models, tools, and validation infrastructure for imaging and spectroscopy.
• Ensure diagnostic systems have calibrated standards and traceable performance metrics.
• Lead risk mitigation for diagnostic equipment and drive scalability.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and program leads to integrate new technologies.
