Xcimer Energy seeks a visionary Head of Diagnostics Physics to lead imaging and spectroscopy programs for future fusion power plants. You will guide experimental teams, design advanced diagnostic systems, and translate research into industrial-grade instrumentation.

Responsibilities include developing calibration standards, collaborating with laser and target design teams, mentoring scientists, and ensuring systems meet reliability and scalability goals in a fast-moving, startup-to-industrial

Qualifications

MS in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field.
10+ years of experimental experience in imaging, spectroscopy, laser experiments, plasma diagnostics.
Deep experience with simulation tools for beam propagation, laser-matter interaction, radiation transport, nonlinear optics, and diagnostic performance modeling.
Experience designing, executing, and analyzing complex imaging, spectroscopic, or fusion experiments.
Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary scientific or R&D organizations.

Responsibilities

Build and scale the Diagnostics Physics department, hire and mentor staff.
Understand program-defined diagnostic requirements across subsystems.
Develop models, tools, and validation infrastructure for imaging and spectroscopy.
Ensure calibration standards and traceable performance metrics throughout lifecycle.
Drive design requirements for robust, high-radiation environment diagnostics.
Collaborate with program leads and external partners to mature technologies.
