Ethan Crossing of Cleveland is seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead HR in a behavioral health setting, aligning workforce initiatives with regulatory standards and patient care goals.

The role drives talent management, compliance, and leadership development, partnering with executive and clinical teams to foster a compliant, engaged, and high-performing workforce. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Euclid, OH.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, or related discipline preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of progressive HR leadership experience in a healthcare or hospital setting.
• Experience in psychiatric or behavioral health environments strongly preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of employment law, labor relations, and healthcare compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute the hospital’s HR strategy aligned with health care standards.
• Oversee talent management, retention, and succession planning.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local employment laws and accrediting standards.
• Advise executive and clinical leadership on employee relations and performance.
• Manage labor relations, investigations, and conflict resolution.
• Oversee compensation, benefits, leave, and HRIS accuracy.
• Support leadership development, workforce planning, and staff training.
• Promote safety, inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Analyze workforce data to guide strategic decisions.

Position Summary

The Director of Human Resources provides strategic and operational leadership for all HR functions within a psychiatric hospital environment. This role is responsible for building a compliant, engaged, and high-performing workforce that supports quality patient care, regulatory excellence, and organizational growth in a behavioral health setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute the hospital’s human resources strategy, aligning workforce initiatives with organizational goals and behavioral health care standards
• Oversee talent management, retention, succession planning, and employee engagement
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, healthcare regulations, and accreditation standards (including Joint Commission and CMS)
• Serve as a trusted advisor to executive and clinical leadership on employee relations, performance management, and organizational development
• Manage labor relations, investigations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution with consistency and discretion
• Oversee compensation, benefits administration, leave management, and HRIS systems to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
• Design and support leadership development, workforce planning, and staff training initiatives tailored to psychiatric and behavioral health care environments
• Promote a culture of safety, inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization
• Analyze workforce data and HR metrics to inform strategic decision-making and improve retention and performance

• Bachelors/ Master’s degree in Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, or related discipline preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of progressive HR leadership experience in a healthcare or hospital setting
• Experience in psychiatric or behavioral health environments strongly preferred
• In-depth knowledge of employment law, labor relations, and healthcare compliance requirements
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, influence senior leadership, and manage complex employee relations matters
